The client required the construction of 30 vacation row-houses of 120sqm each. We have proposed a continuous construction along the street, leaving the remaining plot area free. The houses are narrow and deep. They are oriented to the North (bedrooms) and to the South (living-room and kitchen). Private courtyards extend the inner spaces. They are covered with plants, as it is often the case in the vernacular Portuguese and Mediterranean architecture. Irregularly placed concrete walls partially close the southern courtyards that face the garden and ensure greater privacy. The north facade to the street is a simple white wall. The chosen materials create a “fresh” atmosphere. The interior is painted white and the floor is covered with traditional blue tiles. The common pool required by the master plan is located by the pond on a higher level that is defined by a retaining wall/dam.
