Integrated in a hybrid residential context which crosses urban and rural references, the mortuary house emerges as a filter between them and a universe of contemplation of the distant mountains.

Bounded by a municipal road, a farmland and the Church of Vila Caiz, the constructed volume results from the confluence between the axes of delimiters ground, framing the landscape and solar orientation.

The materiality of the building integrates and filters the context in which it operates through grilles cover crops in concrete (filter of light and views) granite floors, walls and paneling in conjunction with the whiteness of the walls. The interior space results mainly from three major interconnection between spaces defined by an atrium and two rooms that can be joined or fragmented depending on the circumstances.

The view of the distant mountains combined with the water from a tank that strategically reflects in the slope of the roof and walls of the mortuary are factors that catalyze an environment of neutrality, silence and introspection.

Integrada num contexto residencial híbrido onde se cruzam referênciais urbanos e rurais, a casa mortuária surge como um filtro entre estes e um universo de contemplação das serras distantes. Delimitada por uma estrada municipal, campos agrícolas e a Igreja de Vila Caiz, o seu volume construido resulta da confluência entre os eixos delimitadores do terreno, o enquadramento da paisagem e a orientação solar.

A materialidade do edificio integra e filtra o contexto em que se insere através de grelhas de enrelvamento em betão (filtro de luz e de vistas) do granito dos pavimentos, muros e lambrim conjugado com a brancura das paredes. O espaço interior resulta sobretudo da interligação entre três espaços principais definidos por um átrio e duas salas que podem ser unidos ou fragmentados em função das circunstâncias.

A vista das serras distantes conjugada com a água de um tanque que reflecte estratégicamente no plano inclinado do tecto e paredes da casa mortuária são factores que catalizam um ambiente de neutralidade, silêncio e introspecção.
